Dissertation

The dissertation “Media-Reality? A sociological survey of medial discourses” is devoted to the question in how far the media change our relation to reality. Does it become more and more difficult to distinguish between reality and simulated reality, because of the mediation? Isn’t there any more possibility to check the mediated reality with regard to their content of truth? Does this cause the pressure to “trust” in the media? By means of analysing films like “The Truman Show”, “eXistenz” and “Wag the Dog” I try to identify these discourses, to find structures of social handling and patterns of cinematic representation.
